Dr. Ajay Kumar, an Independent Director at Cyient DLM, brings a distinguished career marked by over 37 years of dedicated service in key policy-making positions within the Government of India and the State Government of Kerala. Renowned as the former Defence Secretary of India, Dr. Kumar currently serves as an advisor for electronics development projects.

Commencing his career in the Indian Administrative Service in 1985, Dr. Kumar has held pivotal roles and contributed significantly to various sectors, including electronics manufacturing, mobile production, and defence production. His experience extends to working with the three prominent political parties in India—BJP, Congress, and Left parties—during the transformative period from the 1980s to 2022.

Dr. Kumar played a pivotal leadership role in the technology and policy domains, notably contributing to areas such as electronics manufacturing, mobile production, and defence production. His impact is particularly evident in shaping and implementing crucial decisions for the Government of India's Digital India initiative during his tenure as Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

Dr. Kumar holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, showcasing his strong technical foundation. Furthermore, he has earned a PhD in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota
